The palm tree is a very useful tree to Ghanaian.
it grows in the forest .
when rats and squirrels eat ripe palm fruit, they leave the kernels in the bush.
the kernels grow into Palm tree.
people have made palm tree farms.
there are big companies which have grown palm tree in large areas. there are two popular farms at Benso and Twifo Praso.
many workers work on these large farms.
they are paid salaries at the end of the month.

we also get palm kernel oil from it.
blacksmiths use the palm kernel shells in their work.
they use the shells to heat the iron they use.
the iron becomes soft.
the blacksmiths then make cutlasses, hoes and axes from the iron.
palm wine tappers get palm wine from the palm tree.
palm wine is at first very sweet
later, it becomes difficult for children to drink .
mushurooms grow on dead palm trees.
we use the mushrooms for stews and soups.
it is very nice to sit under a shady palm tree.
there is a big factory in Tema. the factory is lever Brother.
they use palm oil to do a lot of things.
they use it to make soaps.
soaps like key soap, lux, Rexona, Omo and Sunlight are all made from palm oil.
Next time when you eat your slice of bread with margarine remember it came from the palm tree.
